Canto- Dante's Inferno colored.
Throughout The Inferno and Purgatory, Virgil is the representation of human reason while on the other hand, Dante is an innocence that has strayed away from a true or holy way. So I thought, why not picture that innocence in the simple form of having Dante being a baby? He's completely lost in these worlds without the guidance of Virgil. On top of that, I never liked the stereotypical Hell with nothing but Red fire and brimstone. For each soul, their hell could be completely different from the next. I can easily see some parts surrounded by fire while others are very cold, dark and wet.
All of that along with a few happy accidents and I ended up with this! I really like how it came out and I'm excited to hear what you guys think about. I have an idea all ready for the Future theme and while it won't be as extravagant, I'll try to make it just as good. -Johnny

Inferno Linework
Ok, so it's taking me a bit longer than I expected- SO SUE ME! SO SUSAN ME! But I thought I'd let you guys know what I'm working on anyway so... here's at least the linework for my Dante's Inferno drawing. I'm coloring it right now- but I'm still open to ideas! Can any of you see this in a certain color palette? I'll keep you posted.
Oh, and you may be noticing that Dante is a baby... I'll give you the full description once I throw the final up. BLEEEGH.

Next Week's Theme: THE FUTURE.
The year is 2010. Man has colonized the moon. The cheapest car you can buy runs on a nuclear power cell. The robot revolution has been quieted, and our mechanical servants are again just that. As you look forward to your holiday trip to the beaches of mars, you reflect on the incredible world you live in.
Charon
I didn't set out to draw Charon, he just ended up being what came out on the page. Charon is traditionally depicted as a grim reaper type; a skeleton wearing a robe of some sort. I opted for another way. My Charon was perhaps once a sailor who fell into some hard habits and bad decisions. Upon his death (most likely a knife to the gut in a tavern), he finds himself in the underworld, paying off his debt to Purgatory by transferring souls across the Styx. I imagine him as a miserly character; randomly looting odds and ends out of the very river he sails upon. He's also a bit insane about his duties; thus his initial refusal to allow Dante to board his boat on the technicality that Dante is in fact, still alive.

Dante's Inferno
Even though I haven't finish my muppet drawing- though I will this weekend- I'm going to post this week's theme so you can at least start thinking about this as well. For those who haven't posted their muppet drawing, get to it!
This week's theme is Dante's Inferno. Run with it any way you want to. As linear or as abstract as you'd like. It'll be due next weekend I guess...
Here's some images for you to look at...
Hope that strikes everyone's fancy...
